What products to keep ends of hair straight after straightening?

By Amy, August 13, 2010 1:06 pm

The ends of my hair are driving me crazy! A few minutes after I finish straightening it the ends flip out, and when I step outside it slightly puffs out and frizzes.

What products (shampoos, conditioners, serums, etc) should I use? What do you recommend?
My hair is down to my shoulder blades and semi-thick.

The ends were also trimmed with a razor blade. If that helps.

Make sure you have fully blow dried your hair cause if its not it will frizz. Buy John Freida frizz ease, or pomade any brand you can afford. Dont glob it on, just a really tiny bit at the ends

Use Biosilk silk therapy. . . its kinda expensive, but totally worth it. . . a bottle that costs about ten dollars will last you for months anyway. . just use a drop though because too much will make your hair greeasy

Could it be your flat iron? Depending on your hair texture your flat iron may not be hot enough to do the job. Also, section off your hair when you flat iron and take smaller sections.

You need to a product on your hair that will protect it from the heat and also help keep the frizz and split ends under control. I like the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum, or if your hair is course the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm. All you need is 3-4 pumps when your hair is damp. Then dry it and flat iron it like normal. If your hair is still giving you problems then try a small amount of the Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops. One bottle of this should last 1-2 years with regular use.

Make sure you get your hair trimmed on a regular basis (6-8 weeks for longer hair). Also, cutting hair with a razor blade gives a different effect than cutting it with scissors. If your hair already has a tenendency to frizz, you may want to stay away from the razor. Hope this helps.
