I am 14 & I am thinking about getting my belly button done ( I am a pretty mature 1 to ) I was wondering if anyone can help me out with the folowing questions.

I hav heard tht if u put on weight it scares or something is tht right ? and is it the same if u lose weight ?

Do they use a needle ?

When they do do the peircing do they lift the sking up or how so ?

What would u best recomend: The Bars, The Rings Or The Dangles

How Often can u change ur rings after it has heeled ?

Do u have 2 go 2 a shop 2 get them changed or can u do it urself ?

Sorry 4 so much Q. lol, thx 4 any answers. . .

i’m not sure about the scaring i don’t think it depends on if you loose or gain weight just more of how well it heals. yes they use a needle, when the peirce it they will take a clamp and clamp a chunk of your skin (i find this part was the most painful part) and then stick the needle throw, it’s a really fast process. i would suggest the bar, i LOVE rings but they are easier to get infections with and i find are harder to change. after its heeled you can change it as often as you would like, and you don’t have to go to a shop to change it, with my peircings i’ve had to go back to get it changed the first time because they put it on to tight for me to take offo n my own.

If you gain weight it stretches and gets all icky. Then if you lose the weight I’d assume there’d be a scar. They use a needle, either a hollow one or a regular one. They use a clamp to lift the skin and make it easier to pierce. I recommend the bar, just cuz thats what I like, but when I got it pierced I had the ring. . . the piercer said it would be best. When it’s heeled you can change it whenever you want. And you can change it yourself.

As someone who has a piercing, you wait until you have learned how to spell before you make the decision to have something done that can “Scar” (not scare) you. Maturity and wisdom go hand in hand.
Yes, they can scar. Find out if you are allergic to nickle or not prior to having a piercing or it will fester and leave you with an infection and scarring, even if you think it has “healed” (not heeled) well.
They use a 16 gauge needle, generally. Depending on your ring size. The skin in clamped and the needle perforates the skin through a triangulation in the forcep.

only a drastic weight gain or loss would have any effect as far as scarring or stretching goes. they lift the skin with clamps, which also guides the needle. they use a gauged needle. a 16 gauge is the smallest you can get, but it’s better to get piercings with a 14 gauge, as it is easier to find jewelery for it. initially you will want a ring for it, so there will be plenty of accomodation for swelling. after it is healed you can change the jewelery as often as you’d like. most jewelery you can just screw on yourself, but if you want a bcr (beaded captive ring), you will probably need some assistance. if you are 14 you will need a notorized parental consent.

I watched my daughter get her naval pierced by our doctor (I would only let her get it done by a doctor). This is how it was done.

    Gave a local anaesthetic
Drew dots where the needle was to go in and out
Lifted the skin with fingers and pushed a thick hollow needle through (she is very thin but he managed)
He then attached a soft hollow tube onto the end of the needle and pulled the needle out which thread the soft tube through the holes
Then he pushed the ring into the end of the tube and pulled the tube out which thread the ring through the holes.

It only took about 60 seconds after the local took effect she didn’t feel a thing, it was really quite clever.

She changes it herself twice a week but now uses bars because she found that the ring caught on stuff and was uncomfortable to lie on. She has had it for 3 years now and never had a problem

Yes apparently they can scar. Hope this helps.
