Cons – you will always have a hole, (even when it heals, you’ll be able to tell you used to have one)
It costs money
It can get easily infected
Depending on where it is, it can really irritate your teeth and gums
Constant care + cleaning
Pain of getting it done
A lot of people have them
Your options for jobs go down dramatically.
Facial piercings (surface piercings) are always a bit more dangerous. If your skin rejects the piercing your body will try to push it out on its own. They can also cause problems with your teeth because it is close to your mouth. My dentist told me not to get it. However, I got the inside of my bottom lip tattooed. It did not hurt or cause any problems. You should look into getting one of those.
My brother does piercings for a living. The main pro to any piercing is solely cosmetic.
There are many cons. The biggest one being infection. Any mouth piercing has a higher risk of becoming infected because the mouth is the dirtiest part of the body. Mouth piercings get infected easier than ANY other piercing.
Also they hurt. And I’m not just talking about a needle going through your skin hurt. It hurts for several days after.
And you have to constantly be cleaning it. Most likely with a mouth wash that contains alcohol which will make it hurt even worse.
And another con (hopefully one you never will have to experience) is that you might get some sort of illness from the piercing equipment. Even when you go to professionals you are still taking a chance. How do you really know if the equipment is really sterile.
I am not against body piercings at all. But I would never have someone that I didn’t personally know pierce or tattoo me.
It’s all about a style choice really.
I don’t think the cons are any greater than any other kind of piercng. Except for some of the horrid dental and Gum issues I have read about. Not sure if that could just be bad placement in relation to each persons facial structure or not. As long as you are clean and follow directions as told you should have no problems after three or four weeks of heal time. You can’t use mouthwash with alcohol in it either. And the only other con might be some adult and peer backlash. You know, the typical looks and stares and occasional dumb question like “Hey. . . did you know you have a piece of metal on your lip”? or ” Is that a booger”??
Of course you must do your research and make very well the place and person performing the procedure is on the up and up and very sterile.
I guess some of the Pro’s would be that you like it and feel good about expressing your individuality. Self Expression can be a good thing. More people should try it. Otherwise we would all be 5’9 and weigh 150 lbs and the shoe stores would only sell size 8. It will seperate you from all the girls who don’t have it making you that much more unique I assume. Jus make certain it is something you REALLY want. And not just some Fad to be rebellious or attract attention to yourself. Their are way more constructive ways to do that.
ive had my monreo for about maybe 2 years now? 1 and 1/2 maybe. but your gums do not detreiorate! at least not in my case. if you get a good piercer and he piercs it right then you should have no problem.
I really don’t know much but it pops out when you smile >. <
Pros – well. . . You like it?

Pros- You’ll like it and it’ll probably be cute
Cons- It’ll ruin your gums and probably your teeth
Sorry- I think they’re cute but I don’t think they’re worth it
Well, i had mine done a few years ago, it wasnt painful. I had it in for a few months and it never healed ( i had to take it out for work).
Pro’s- Its cute (for the people who can pull it off)
Cons- It takes a while to heal
Can hurt your chances of getting a job
Scar takes a while to fade (for me anyways)
cons- they make you look ugly! your obviously beautiful. why get an ugly metal zit?!
