i got an industrial piercing exactly 2 months ago. it still hurts and developes crust every morning. . . probably because i cant help sleeping on my ear. is the piercing supposed to be completely healed by now? i need to remove the bar so i can go to 6 flags soon. and ive tried to remove the bar, but maybe im doing it wrong. . . so does anyone know how to remove it?
well i dont want to remove the whole piercing i just want to be able to take the bar out and put it back in later. . . and it wont unscrew
i gotta take it off for 6 flags because on some rides my ear could start bleeding and get infected.

It Should Come off Pretty Easily. You Usually Just Twist The Balls On One End Of the bar And Slip it Through The Other, It May Be Infected Though And You Should Try Using The Stuff They Give You A Claries When You Get Your Ears Pierced. It Well Clear Up Most Infections. Good Luck!

    Hi
Industrial piercings can take up to nearly 12 months to heal completely, as for the crust / mucas this is so normal, as your body is healing and accepting it.

Do you really need to take it out, it would be wiser to either:
1: place medical tape over it
2: go to the piercing studio and get them to put in a clear
Ptfa bar, as it will hide the piercing, as it is clear.
3: if you really want it removed get it done professionally as industrial piercings arent that easy to do, and it must be done properly as not to encourage keyloid scarring.

I am a body piercer and have performed over 3, 500 piercings so I hope that I have helped a little.

I would be a shame to remove it, after going through all of that, it is why I suggest PTFE bar, it is clear and our body will accept this easily.

    Good Luck

Not sure what “industrial” means but if it’s still getting crusty you definitely shouldn’t remove it.
If you do it will grow back together. Keep it cleaned and use alcohol or a similar disinfectant to prevent infection.

Why do you have to remove it for 6 flags?

The healing time for an industrial is typically six-twelve months. It’s probably not fully healed as you’ve only had it for two. I had the same question after getting mine done last month. It was still getting crusty and gross a month later, but it’s all part of the healing process. Because it’s a bigger gauge and it’s cartilage tissue, it’s going to take longer.

My advice is not to take it out. It’s been the most painful piercing so far and after all that, it’d be a shame to lose it. I don’t think you should need to take it out to go to six flags. Just bring some sea salt solution to keep it clean.

If you do want to take it out, I agree with the piercer who responded. Go to your piercer and have them do it. The balls on my bar are both pretty stuck in there (I have a habit of playing with the other piercings).

    Good luck.

The industrial piercing takes at least a year to heal completely so the crust is normal. Just make sure you’re cleaning it. If you remove it, it’ll grow back. . so don’t go to 6 Flags yet? haha
or get a retainer, although I’m not sure how that will help with the bumping on rides.
