I just got my lip pierced three days ago. . ?
I’m not incredibly worried, I just want to save myself a phonecall to the piercer. They did everything right, I also got my tongue done there before. My question, though, is that I’m completely new to lip piercings, and I have this white stuff forming within the hole on the inside of my lip. At first, I thought it was just like food debris, plaque, stuff like that, so I would brush it gently with my toothbrush. On the left side, I can usually clean it with my toothbrush or a Q-Tip, but the right side is more stubborn and I find myself fighting it. I’m not really sure if this white stuff is a good sign or a bad sign, but the right hand side seems to be stuck there, so it’s clearly not food. Can anyone tell me what this is and why it’s there? Do I need to clean it? Should I call the piercer? It’s not painful other than the swelling and throbbing that I’ve had with it since I got it pierced, but the white stuff is un-hygenic looking, and I want to clean it, so let me know if I should or not.
Perhaps call to be safe, sorry I can’t answer your question I just wanted to say lucky you have one :[
The only thing you can really do is, go back were you got it pierced and ask the piercer what’s going on with your lip and maybe he/she can tell you what you can do to prevent it.
Hope it gets better !!!

When i had mine done i played with it alot!!! i got mine done with a ring instead of a stud. some stud posts are too big and move alot too. the white thing you are seeing is your skin and the goopy stuff is puss. I used a special mouth wash and warm sea salt mix to rinse. the skin will FALL off try not to pick at it! and sometimes it is good to call them. . it is their job!! just dont freak out and be sure to change it when they say it is OKAY! hope this helps!
ok so if you clean it and pus comes out its ok
its just healing and thats normal but if its weird white stuff then maybe you should go back and ask
It’s lymph, the same stuff that causes crusties on any other healing piercing. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but if you want to clean it up, dip your q tip in the biotene that you’re rinsing your mouth with after eating (or sea salt solution, whatever you use) and use that to gently loosen it up. This is probably going to be a lot easier just after rinsing, that tends to help loosen stuff up a bit.
It’s really not a problem as long as there’s no pain associated with it and it’s not oozing yellow or green nastiness. The white is completely normal. If it were on the outside of your lip, it would just crust up like normal, but it’s wet in your mouth, so it doesn’t dry up like normal crusties.
You’re definitely fine!
It’s normal!
Don’t irritate it yet. The white stuff is a part of the healing process. Once it dries up, use whatever antibacterial you have and gently clean it out with a Q-Tip.
Only worry if the pus is green or very orange or something strange like that.
