Question about belly piercings?
Hi Guys,
I’ve had my belly ring done twice. . first time it rejected and fell out, second time it became infected again so I just took it out. . . .
But I was thinking, after I’ve lost the rest of my “grief” weight, would it be stupid to try to pierce it again??
Please no stupid answers ![]()
Kat – does titanium make a difference? Because I think both times I had surgical steel
If you do decide to try again, you may want to ask the piercer to try and pierce behind the scar tissue and start you with a titanium bananabell instead of surgical steel.
ETA: Some grades of surgical steel can contain traces of nickel, whereas titanium has none. If a person has trouble with their body rejecting a piercing due to the jewelry’s material then titanium is usually the next recommended option. It’s a bit more expensive than steel, but it has almost no allergen rate whatsoever.
it obviously doesnt work for you. just give up, you shouldnt want to put yourself at risk of a bad infection, get a different peircing somewhere else instead that you like also!
I’d see a doctor,. Most of the body piercings in the town that I live in are actually done by a fully qualified medical practitioner. That way if anything goes wrong you go straight back and get antibiotics for any infections like the ones that you got .
What happened to you should not be allowed to happen in an ethical body piercing establishment. You may also have an allergy to certain metals. Check with your GP before proceeding with any further body piercing.
Next time have the piercing done by a doctor or registered and licensed body piercing organisation. They all have to be licensed in Australia and you have to be over 18 years of age to have it done or have your parents consent if you are over 16 years – nothing under 16 years. I am not suggesting that this applies to you but putting this in for younger readers.
Good Luck!!!
