ive had a foot tattoo for 2 years now too. Just keep it wrapped with something similar to what they wrapped it with and be sure to wear a sock. i have a tattoo going over my whole left foot and the color completely came out on the left side so i have to go occasionally and get it touched up (way more than any of my others) so be sure its not rubbing to hard and try not to wear heels if possible. good luck!
What ever you cover it with make sure it is something that can “breath” like cotton. Whatever you do do NOT seal it tight it will increase your chances for infection. Oh, and expect it to fade. I’ve been involved with the tat industry for 17 yrs and I can tell you if you can’t leave it uncovered and exposed to air for at least a week after getting it you will be going back for a touch up. Don’t forget to apply the antibiotic ointment also.
The problem is your foot is going to sweat. You need to keep it clean and dry. Avoid over wrapping it as in a bandage and a sock. choose one or the other. My recomendation would be to bring a couple extra socks to work and if possible change the sock throughout the day.
Get your hands wet and kinda fling dry them off then put a small amount of A&D ointment on your finger tips so it isn’t so thick. Rub it well into your tattoo so that NO ointment remains visible when you’re done. Then use a loose fitting clean sock . Don’t bind you tattoo up it needs air to breathe and heal.
Feel free to email me if you have any further questions.
My husband had to wrap his wrist at work so his shirt sleeve wouldn’t irritate the tattoo. He used that self sticking medical wrap with a thin piece of gauze over the tat. It worked really well. The tattoo was still able to breathe and heal.
