I’ve got two. This did not happen to me. You may be allergic to the ink. Try Benadryl. If that does not work – go to the doctor.

My husband uses A&D ointment, but I prefer Curel Ultra Healing lotion.

I recommend that you stop using the A&D ointment and switch to an unscented lotion. Try that for a day and if your symptoms don’t change or get worse call the tattoo shop.

Most likely you’re over-moisturizing. It’s a common and really easy to do thing. Most folks do that with their first tattoos as it’s hard to gauge what is the right amount. I know I had a problem like this myself.

I’d say stop for at least a day, probably two or three. At that point check the tattooed area. If it’s dry, put a little lotion on it, but only a little. You’re looking to make it feel like the surrounding skin.

    Best of luck.

go to the store and buy some orange dial antibacterial soap (preferably in the pump) , use it while you shower. then after getting out of the shower rub some aquaphor on it, it will work wonders and your tattoo should start to feel better in about another week. do not use vasaline or bacitracin. Same thing happened to me on one of my full rib pieces, just make sure not to pick it at all or else the ink messes up and when its healed you’ll end up needing a retouch.
IIm not sure who came to think of using a+d ointment but thats a bad idea. . . trust me, i’ve worked in a shop and have 7 tattoos and full rib pieces. hope it helps and happy tattooing.

and one more thing, don’t use scented/flavor lotions on it ever until you’re 150% healed
