My tattoo is 7 days old. On about day 4 it started to get itchy, then day 5 it began to peel. I don’t think it?

is going to scab. Is my tattoo healing normally? It is on my lower back and i keep it well covered with Lubriderm since the 3rd day.
Also, when i apply the lubriderm, i have been putting a thick film on it and not rubbing it in. I have now read i was to only use a small amount and rub it in. Have I caused damage to my tattoo?

I have a tattoo in the same place. It was VERY itchy. If you are keeping it well lubed. . . it might not scab. Just peel. Make sure to keep sunscreen on it when you do go in the sun. . . after it has healed.

It will heal better if it doesn’t scab. In the uk we use bepanthen nappy rash cream and cling film it and it doesn’t scab at all. Your tattoo doesn’t need to scab to heal properly trust me its fine.

Your tattoo is healing properly. Just don’t use anything with aloe or perfume, it takes at least 2 weeks total. It also depends on the individual persons skin.

Your tattoo is fine. You don’t want a tattoo to scab, because it can pull color out. Here’s an excellent video on tattoo aftercare, (I prefer Lubriderm, but Curel is good):
